FULTON COTTON MILL

Atlanta, Georgia

Fulton Bag & Cotton Mill is a landmark in Atlanta's Cabbagetown neighborhood. Though the oldest buildings on site date from Reconstruction, several of the buildings remained in use through the early 1980's. At the time this project began, the buildings that would become the 300 apartments of Phase II made up some of the most extremely deteriorated buildings on the site. Many had been vacant for over 20 years with little or no maintenance during that time. This project took that highly deteriorated building stock and converted it into market-rate housing while also qualifying for Section 106 Tax Credits under the National Historic Preservation Act.
